New Weekend Mass Time for both OLW and Holy Name: Both communities of OLW and Holy Name have supported the new weekend Mass Times. This change will be effected from Saturday/Sunday 5th -6th August 2023. Mass times will be as per roster, on the door and in the bulletin.
Saturday Night: 6:00pm at Our Lady of the Way
Sunday Morning: 9:00am at Our Lady of the Way
Sunday Morning: 10:30am at Holy Name
Sunday Afternoon: 4:00pm at Holy Name (Vietnamese)
Weekday Mass Times The following 3 weeks, mass times are as follows:
Our Lady of the Way: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00am
OLW Communion Service: Tuesday and Thursday 10:00am
Holy Name: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 9:00am
Parish Life During January: Thank you to all who have been involved in parish life during the last year. To our Sacristans, Special Ministers, Readers, and many parishioners who volunteer their time to maintain our church and garden; to those who continued to contact the aged and ill of our community, through the Communion to the Sick ministry or home visits; to our St Vincent de Paul volunteers, who continued to respond to those in need. And to our wonderful parishioners, who continue to support and welcome each other. Our parishes will be a little quieter during January, with the following arrangements:
- There will be no newsletter bulletin from January 5th to end of month. Bulletin will resume end of January
Readers and Special Ministers please check January Rosters.
- If you would like something brought to the attention of the parish community, please leave a note in the suggestion box, or speak to a member of PLT. Announcements will be made regularly at each weekend mass
- The Parish Office will be closed till end of January. Please leave a message via phone or email as this will be checked on a regular basis
Week-Day Masses: From January the 6th to February 7th, there will be no morning masses at both Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury and Holy Name East Preston. However, Adoration and Rosary may still be organised by parishioners
- Week-End Masses: During the period of January the 6th to February 7th, we welcome Fr Frank Buhagiar (Saturday 6pm), Fr Joe Giacobbe (Sunday during January) and Fr Brian Glasheen, who will be with us to celebrate Masses. We invite parishioners to assist with setup and other tasks to help support the church during this time. Your cooperation and generosity are greatly appreciated.
Tuesday 24th December: Christmas Eve
• 5:30pm: Carols at Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury
• 6:00pm Vigil Mass- Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury. With light refreshments after mass - Please join us!
• 8:00pm Vigil Mass- Holy Name East Preston
Wednesday 25th December: The Nativity of the Lord
• 9:00am - Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury
• 10.30am - Holy Name East Preston
New Year’s Day Mass: The Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God’ will take place at 10.00 am at Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury, on Wednesday 1st of January 2025.
Save the Date: Opening of the Year Mass: There will be an opening of the year mass here at Our Lady of the Way Kingsbury on Sunday the 9th of February at 9am
(TBC). All parishioners are welcomed to attend. Hospitality will follow Mass. This will be a wonderful opportunity to gather and
welcome new parishioners, and to catch up. Further details will be available towards the end of January 2025.
Church Volunteers : Thank you to our parishioners who continue to volunteer and support the parish: Readers, Ministers, Collectors and Counters, setting up and cleaning after mass, organising social events and morning teas, church and garden maintenance to name a few. Thank you for stepping in and supporting the community of Our Lady of the Way. If you are interested in reading, becoming a Eucharist Minister, or wanting to help out in any way, please speak to Fr John or a member of the Parish Leadership Team (PLT)
Parish Suggestion Box: A white suggestion box has been placed in the church foyer. If parishioners have any concerns or questions, please feel free to write a message and place it in the box or reach out to a member of the Parish Leadership Team (PLT).
Celebrating the end of the Liturgical year: A heartfelt thank you for your generous support of last week’s’ End of Year Morning Tea’. Your presence not only fills our cups but also strengthens the bonds of our community. It’s through moments like these, spent together, that we experience the warmth and the joy of friendships built in faith. Your ongoing spirit of care makes our community a truly special place. Let’s continue to share these moments, growing in faith and love as we prepare ourselves through Advent.
Piety Story and Christmas Products: The Piety Store, located in the foyer cabinet near the fridge, has been restocked with Christmas gifts and items If parishioner is looking for a particular item to purchase, please let any PLT member know. 2025 Columban Calendars ($10) and Advents books ($5) are also available in the foyer. More Christmas Cards have been ordered. Christmas Raffle is also coming soon!
Christmas Raffle: Our Christmas Raffle is back! There are 3 great prizes to be one. Raffle tickets are available for $1 each in the foyer. Tickets will be drawn on the 21st Saturday of December after 6pm Mass. We thank Glenda Tombs for preparing the prizes and raffle.
Vinnies Christmas Tree: Our St Vincent De Paul Christmas giving tree will be up soon. During the Advent season, if you would like to donate goods, vouchers and gifts, please place them under the tree or speak with Greg. Please take a tag and write down age and/or gender for gift where possible. We thank you for your ongoing generosity and support of the families in need of our community.
